Warm, bright, and endlessly loving, Margot is the kind of person kids gravitate toward and parents instantly trust. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she moved to the United States as a young girl, where after-school and summer enrichment programs became a defining part of her childhood — and sparked a lifelong passion for creating the same safe, joyful, growth-filled spaces for other children.
Margot began as a volunteer at an after-school program she loved and valued, and worked her way up over the years — from preschool teacher all the way to program director. She spent much of her career with STAR, the nonprofit that runs after-school programs across the Los Angeles Unified School District — one of the largest after-school organizations in the country — including as a lead teacher at two of the top-rated elementary schools in Los Angeles.
With over 20 years of experience teaching and leading children's programs, Margot brings a rare combination of deep expertise and genuine, charismatic warmth. It's what makes her the person you'd want caring for your own kids.
Margot has lived in Sedona for many years and is a big part of the community. She moved here in the summer of 2020 with her husband and two children, who attend Sedona Charter School — the very campus where Sedona Camp gathers. Raising her family here has shaped everything about how she runs the camp: this isn't just where she works — it's her kids' school community, her neighbors' children, and the town her family calls home.
In 2023, Sedona Camp officially began. The idea grew out of the after-school program itself — watching the kids at Sedona Charter, they saw the chance to build something better. From the very beginning, the program was designed to teach kids a new skill while having fun, with structured days of sports, arts, science, and cooking. The goal was simple: a place where parents never have to worry about their kids, and where every child feels safe, has fun, and loves to learn.
